A Providence man was killed in an industrial accident in Tiverton Friday morning,

Police and fire crews were called to Tiverton Materials at 810 Fish Road around 8:35 a.m. Saturday for a report of an unresponsive man. Upon arrival, they found Selvin Martin Ovando Gamez, 29, unresponsive and on the ground. Fire crews attempted to perform life-saving measures, and transported Gamez to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River. There, he was pronounced deceased.

Officers learned that Gamez was on top of a piece of machinery which separates sand from gravel, when it became backed up. While attempting toloosen the material in the machine, he fell in and was pulled from the machine by nearby workers.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) were notified.
