On March 17, 2016 Mary V. Silvia of Bristol passed away at the age of 92 and is now reunited with her dearly missed family and friends.
She is happily once again with her husband of 64 years, Harry and surely enjoying their front porch discussions. Mary is also with her brother Joseph, his wife Clara, brother Manuel “Corky”, his wife Lucy, sister Agnes, her husband Toby, and her brother Abel. Her parents Abel and Maria, born in Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel are delighted to have their daughter with them.
Mary, always the proud Bristolian, rarely missed the 4th of July parade. A 1942 Colt Memorial High School graduate, she worked at the A.N. Nunes Insurance Agency until her retirement at age 85. Mary was a lifelong communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and devoted to her beloved St. Anthony. Loving memories of Mary live on with her son Raul Silvia and wife Laura of Barrington and her daughter Mary Beth McKenna and husband Ward of Exeter. She was always proud of her grandchildren Christopher and Elizabeth Silvia, and step-grandchildren Alicia and son Dylan, Jaclyn and Kerry McKenna.
Mary is fondly remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother and grandmother.
Her funeral services were held March 23 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church. The liturgical readings were by Jaclyn McKenna and the offertory gifts were presented by Denise Silva and Ann Marie Medeiros. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Christopher Silvia, Bryce Whelan, Tobias Vasconcellos, Daniel Silva, Jody Selley and Paul Hadala. Rather than flowers the family suggests spending time with a dear family member or friend.
