As the granddaughter, daughter and wife of veterans, and as the mother of a son attending the US Naval Academy, I have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military. For me, it’s personal.
As a legislator, I strongly supported the new Veteran’s Home in Bristol. This year, at the request of veterans and the Barrington Town Council, I was proud to sponsor legislation enabling Barrington veterans to receive a property tax exemption.
Support for our veterans includes ensuring that those returning from active duty have job opportunities, training for a profession, and housing supports when needed. It also includes ensuring that those who suffered injuries, including post-traumatic stress and substance abuse, receive the treatment they need.
I will continue to work on behalf of all veterans to ensure they have the support needed and deserve in recognition of the sacrifices they have made to keep us safe.
