The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police Department call logs from Monday, Aug. 11 to Sunday, Aug. 17:
Monday, Aug. 11
Officer pursued an arrest warrant for a Warren man on several alleged charges. At just before 12:30 p.m., Cody M. Joly, 19, of 25 Homestead Ave., was taken into custody on the following counts: domestic violence - simple assault and/or battery - 1st offense; domestic violence - simple assault and/or battery - 1st offense; domestic violence - vandalism - 1st offense; domestic violence - disorderly conduct - 1st offense; domestic violence - disorderly conduct - 1st offense. He was arraigned and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution.
Later in the evening, at just after 9 p.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Market Street, police arrested Rafael Jimenez, 22, of 18 Nobert St., Warren on alleged charges of obstructing officer in execution of duty and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and released approximately two hours after the stop.
Tuesday, Aug. 12
Officers responded to a disturbance call on Franklin Street at approximately 6:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a verbal argument between parties. Upon arrival, police learned the dogs had been fighting. Neither party wished to file a complaint and no further action was taken.
Wednesday, Aug. 13
Police received a call from Water Street of a noise complaint at 7:05 p.m., requesting a response to what appeared to a fog horn blaring for an extended period of time and it possibly being a distress signal. The responding officer upon arrival determined it was a sail boat training school performing drills in the river.
Thursday, Aug. 14
A woman arrived at WPD headquarters on Joyce Street at 3:45 p.m. to file a report of suspicious activity involving the possible impersonation of a police officer. She said a male called claiming to be a Bristol officer was trying to extort money from her. The responding Warren officer confirmed the potential scam and advised female she could respond to Bristol PD headquarters to report the impersonation of one of their officers.
Friday, Aug. 15
Police received a report of a raccoon stuck in a trash can at a Summit Drive residence at 12:25 p.m. The caller was advised to place the trash can on its side to allow the animal to get out on its own, however, the person stated she was a veterinarian and that approach "was not a good idea." The caller was advised the WPD's Animal Control Officer would come by at a later time to render aid.
Saturday, Aug. 16
Police were alerted to a couple more animal complaints involving loose dogs, which were eventually retrieved by their owners. The first came from Bradford Street at approximately 5:45 p.m. and later at around 8:20 p.m. from Birchswamp Road. Police also shortly thereafter were notified of a delivery person being bitten by a dog at a Stonegate Road location at about 9 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 17
The weekend ended on a bit of a lighter note when police received a call from the driving range on Market Street at about 4:30 p.m. about a customer having purchase a bucket of balls to hit only to leave the location with the basket full. Contact was eventually made with the male party, who told the officer he had left the range due to shoulder pain and planned on returning tomorrow to finish hitting the golf balls. The operators of the range were advised of the situation.
