Letter: A most erroneous request

Posted

To the editor:

In his latest, and perhaps most intelligence-insulting letter (in the July 6 copy of the Providence Journal), John Anderson suggests that the best move for Senator Whitehouse et.al. would be to admit defeat and go along with the MAGA agenda.

In this way, he suggests, Rhode Island would reap the rewards that capitulation would bring.

When you think about it, perhaps John is correct. I’m sure the senator and his supporters down deep really don’t care about what is being done to human rights in this country. I’m sure that he doesn’t care that studies have shown that the crime rate of undocumented, as well as legal immigrants, is “significantly less” than native born Americans.

Why should he care that, on June 25 of this year, IRS commissioner Andrew De Mello was instructed to turn over 7.3 million addresses to ICE, but found “multiple deficiencies” in the request and refused to comply? Strangely, on June 27 he was fired.

Why should any human being consider the burning of 5 billion TONS of surplus food, intended to help feed the starving around the world (including Rhode Island), criminal?

Face it, John. The senator and his supporters are just un-American wimps. Count me among these folks.
