Thousands of people come to see the pumpkins and enjoy the festivities.

Magic Pumpkin Coach & Snap the Dragon

Pick your mode of transportation and take a ride around our farm—choose from the Pumpkin Coach or Snap the Dragon!

      Western Town

Have a grand time panning for farmer’s gold, going to jail, hanging your hat in the saloon and then stop to rob the bank — in any order you prefer.

      Make Your Own Scarecrow

We supply the hay and little items to create the body — just bring some old clothes, crazy hats or whatever else your imagination and back of your closets can conjure up.

      Play in the Hay!

Kids can climb all around in it and go crazy. They can even try to find the “needle” in the hay stack!

      Pumpkin Painting

Come, sit around the table and paint your pumpkin how you please — scary face, happy face, no face but a pretty fall scene. You’re limited only by your imagination (and your artistic ability).

      Charlie Brown’s Pumpkin Patch

Take your picture with Charlie Brown and his friends as you stroll through the patch to find that perfect pumpkin.

      Ride the Witch Broom

Another great photo opportunity for the little ones.

“Although the farm offers something special during every season, fall is really our favorite,” says Barbara Frerichs.  “There are many families that look forward to our fall activities as much as we do!”

Frerichs Farm will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during their Pumpkin Palooza and the Pumpkin Weigh-Off.

For more information on all of the farm’s fall activities, go to www.frerichsfarm.com or call the farm at (401) 245-8245.

    2. Jesse Terry in concert @ Sandywoods Center for the Arts
      8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Jesse Terry, a nationally touring, award-winning singer-songwriter, comes to Sandywoods Center for the Arts. His music has been compared to the likes of Jackson Browne, Ryan Adams, Paul Simon and James Taylor. He’s a regular at some of the finest listening rooms in the country, including The Bluebird Cafe (Nashville), Club Passim (Cambridge, Mass.), Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End (New York City) and Eddie’s Attic (Georgia). His sophomore release, “Empty Seat on a Plane,” has been described as “a charmer of an album” and “an invitation to join Jesse on an emotional odyssey.” Bring your own drinks and food.

    3. Ramblin’ Jack Elliott in concert @ Common Fence Point Community Hall
      8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Common Fence Music welcomes folk legend Ramblin’ Jack Elliott to the gold lamé stage. Jack’s ramblin’ ways began at the age of 14, when he ran away from his Brooklyn home to join the rodeo and learned to play guitar from a cowboy. One of the last true links to the great folk traditions and with over 40 albums under his belt, artists such as Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Beck, Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, Bruce Springsteen, the Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones have all paid homage to him. In the tradition of roving troubadours, Elliott has carried the seeds and pollens of story and song for decades from one place to another — timeless songs that outlast whatever current musical fashion strikes today’s fancy. Don’t forget your picnic basket.

    4. International Oktoberfest @ Newport Yachting Center
      12:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Bring on the bier steins and brouhaha when the International Oktoberfest returns to Newport this Columbus Day weekend. The event features loads of live entertainment, international food and beverages and seasonal family fun for everyone to enjoy. This year there are two stages of live Bavarian entertainment including the spirited die Schlauberger, plus SPITZE! Oktoberfest Show Band, The Alex Meixner Band, HSV Bavaria Folk Dancers, The Polka Family Band and The Adlers. And what’s Oktoberfest without the beloved biergartens, brimming with frosty heads of seasonal and international beer varieties and a gleaming view of Newport Harbor?

One of Judy Garland’s best-loved movies, “Meet Me in St. Louis (1944),” is next up in librarian Doug Swiszcz’s film lecture series, “Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance!: The Evolution of Movie Musicals.” Filmed in glorious Technicolor, the film is director Vincente Minnelli’s beautifully realized evocation of homespun life in America at the turn of the 20th century. Episodic in nature, the story follows one St. Louis family through the changes of the seasons as the 1904 World’s Fair approaches. The ensemble cast includes child star Margaret O’Brien, and the Hugh Martin-Ralph Blane score features memorable songs like “The Boy Next Door,” “The Trolley Song,” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” The series continues with “Singin’ in the Rain” (Oct. 17), “Fiddler on the Roof” (Oct. 24) and “Chicago” (Oct. 31).

      6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Dollars & Sense is back for a new semester of free personal finance education!

Few people have the resources to accomplish major goals, such as a down payment for a home, a college education, and retirement, without long-term investments. Discover how, by investing, you will be able to put the power of compounding to work for you and achieve higher rates of return than you can with savings. Risk, diversification, and asset allocation will be discussed as well.

Julie Bernick of Money Management International will lead this informative session.  This event is open to the public, but registration is required.  Call the library at (508) 336-8230 or visit www.seekonkpl.org to register.
