Maria daConceicao “Connie” (Melo) Beirola, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Feb. 8, 2019, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Angelo Beirola.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao Melo Laurenco and Maria Eugenia Melo. She was the sister of Gilbert F. Melo and his wife Laurinda of Mamaroneck, N.Y., and the late Jose F. Melo. She was the sister-in-law of Maria J. Melo, who was a devoted caregiver to Connie.  She was the devoted aunt of Jane Medeiros, Steven Melo and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beirola was educated in Portugal and employed by I. Shalom. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabela and the Portuguese Prayer Group. Connie loved baking, knitting and loved to laugh and spend time with her family.

Her funeral services were Feb. 12 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Gilberto Orioli at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Jane Medeiros and Gilbert Melo. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Suzy Melo, and the offertory gifts were presented by Jane Medeiros and Steven Melo. The eulogy was given by Gilbert Melo.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Aires Medeiros, Nicholas Medeiros, Ryan Medeiros, Steven Melo, AJ Medeiros and Jason Oliveira.
