Centenarian was a great cook, loved the Boston Red Sox
Christine F. (Russo) Accardi, 101, of Warren, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at Silver Creek Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter L. Accardi.
Born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Michael and Elvira ( Baldizzi)Russo, she was a 1934 graduate of Colt Memorial High School.
Christine is survived by her sons, Joseph and his former wife Pat, Peter L. Jr. and Michael and his wife Claire. Christine also leaves five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Carl Russo, Anthony Russo, Salvatore Rossi, Sayde Trotter, Josephine Accardi and Anne DelMonico.
Christine formerly lived in Warren and was a communicant of St. Alexander Church. She worked as a seamstress and dressmaker in the ladies' garment industry in Fall River, Mass and Warren, retiring at age 62. She continued to do alterations for her family well into her 90s.
She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed having her family over for holiday dinners. Christine enjoyed her hobbies which included bowling, reading and gardening. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox for many years.
Her funeral was held Monday, Sept. 24, from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Alexander’s Church, 221 Main St., Warren. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
