The Barrington Town Council will tour six athletic venues on Saturday morning, Aug. 12.

The tour begins at Barrington High School at 8 a.m. — people should meet at the circle driveway in front of the high school.

The second stop will be at Barrington Middle School, and then the group heads off to Chianese Field. The fourth stop on the tour is the St. Andrew’s Farm Field, followed by a visit to Haines Park.

Finally, the Town Council will tour the athletic fields at East Providence High School.

The tour is part of the town’s ongoing effort to improve fields and facilities in Barrington. In May, the Barrington Town Council approved a $79,950 bid to Victus Advisors of Park City, Utah to “evaluate the need, demand, economics, site, and building options for a new recreation center/field house.” The Council also approved a $69,750 bid to Traverse of Providence, to provide a thorough and detailed evaluation of Barrington’s athletic fields and areas where the town could improve its facilities.

Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey said the consultant team from Traverse and Tom Irwin Advisors will lead the tour on Saturday morning. They are expected to share their initial thoughts on each site and potential opportunities to improve conditions.

The tour of athletic fields is open to the public.
