Barrington police investigated a possible electronic crime at Barrington High School.
Officers responded to the school on Friday, Dec. 7, after officials there reported a suspicious email that had been sent to the entire student body. The email did not include a threat, but was concerning.
Police spoke with school officials who traced the email to a student who later admitted to downloading something onto school computers. The downloaded program allowed the student to have internal access to the school's email system, said police.
School officials are removing the program from the school computers. Police said the incident did not warrant a criminal charge.
