Barrington’s AA All-Star baseball team opened the Christopher Andreozzi Tournament with a 9-5 win over West Warwick and a 9-9 tie against Smithfield.

Barrington trailed by two runs going into the fifth inning against Smithfield, but built a one-run lead after Greyson Pierce-Sanchez, Rocco Coppolino and Peter Berard each scored runs. Smithfield eventually scored one more run, ending the game in a tie.

Berard, Zac Posseil and Thomas Elliott shared pitching duties for Barrington. Berard, Pierce-Sanchez and Coppolino scored seven of Barrington’s nine runs and stole a combined 10 bases.

Barrington is scheduled to play against Cranston Western on Thursday at Slater Park in Pawtucket.

Earlier this summer, Barrington competed in the Sally Eddy Tournament and finished with a record of 2-2. The local boys played four games in four nights.

Barrington’s offense was led by Coppolino and Pierce-Sanchez (each scored five runs), and Beau Hughes and Berard (four hits each). Berard and Posseil recorded the wins on the mound for Barrington.

Barrington roster: Peter Berard, Beau Hughes, Colin Hughes, Greyson Pierce-Sanchez, Thomas Elliott, Will Perrault, Crosby Blanco, Rocco Coppolino, Simon Kim, Zac Posseil, Lucas Reichard, Tommy Grossman, and Bobby Piazza. The head coach is Marc Coppolino, and the assistant coach is Jack Hughes.
