Eagles host Eastern Division Championship on Saturday

The Barrington High School boys track team crushed the competition at the final regular season meet. 

On Monday, May 1, the Eagles outscored Rogers 120.5-27.5, Middletown 144-9, and St. Patrick’s 153-0. 

The victories locked up an undefeated regular season for Barrington and served as a warm-up for the Eastern Division Championships, which will be held Saturday, May 6, at Barrington High School.

Barrington swept the top three spots in nearly every event on Monday. 

• 3,000-meters: 1. Finn Myatt, 2. Elliot Lefort, 3. Sam Spencer

• 1,500-meters: 1. Myles Napolitano, 2. Michael Chun, 3. Charlie Stockwell

• 300-meter hurdles: 1. Ethan Knight, 2. Jared Lesk, 3. Grady Hazlett

• 110-meter hurdles: 1. Ethan Knight, 2. Bobby Wind, 3. Eli Terrell

• 800-meters: 1. Napolitano, 2. Michael Chun, 3. Marius Bonard

• 100-meters: 1. Iain DeBoth, 3. Alex McClelland

• 400-meters: 1. DeBoth, 2. Ben Lebreche, 3. Hayden Stubblefield

• 200-meters: 1. Alex McClelland, 3. Will DiGiacomo

• 4x400-meter relay: 2. Henry Stockwell, Labreche, Stubblefield, Bonard; 3. Napolitano, Daniel Chun, Michael Chun, Fritz Muehlbauer

• 4x100-meter relay: 1. Chucky Potter, Knight, Charly Potter, DeBoth

• Hammer throw: 1. Michael Fay, 3. Sam Spector

• Shot put: 2. Dan Lemos, 3. Joe Adams

• Javelin: 2. Charly Potter, 3. Adams

• Discus: 1. Fay, 3. Graham Bennett

• Pole vault: 1. Chucky Potter, 3. Charly Potter

• High jump: 2. Chucky Potter, 3. Caleb Satisfield

• Long jump: 1. Terrell, 2. Patrick Trainor, 3. Aidan Memoli

• Triple jump: 1. Memoli, 2. Pierce Wilkerson, 3. Levon He

Hurdler sets two school records

Ethan Knight set two school records and was crowned meet champion in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles at the Classical Classic on Saturday, April 29. 

Barrington’s 4x100-meter relay team finished second overall. The team includes Charly Potter, Chucky Potter, Knight and Iain DeBoth. 

The Eagles’ 4x800-meter relay team, which features Charlie Stockwell, Sam Bishop, Connor Curran and Marius Bonard, finished fourth. 

Chucky Potter finished sixth in the pole vault, and Michael Fay was sixth in the hammer throw.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
