Niche.com recently selected Barrington as the top school district in Rhode Island.

The website — www.k12.niche.com — released the results of its analysis on Monday, Dec. 19. The site also listed Barrington as the best school district to teach in Rhode Island and as having the best teachers in Rhode Island. It offered Barrington Public Schools an A+ as an overall grade.

Niche listed Barrington as number 247 out of more than 10,000 school districts nationwide. It was number 312 out of 7,765 districts when it came to "best school districts for athletes…"

As for state rankings, Barrington was followed by East Greenwich and Portsmouth. Middletown came in 15th, the Bristol Warren Regional School District was 18th and Tiverton came in 22nd.

The Niche ranking is reportedly based on a rigorous analysis of key statistics and reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality and public school district ratings.
