Reynolds Strong tourney honors the late Paul J. Reynolds

The Paul J. Reynolds Foundation, created in honor of the late Paul Reynolds, will hold its first-ever Reynolds Strong Golf Tournament on Oct. 30 at Pawtucket Country Club.

Reynolds Strong was founded in memory of Barrington resident and East Providence native Paul Reynolds who passed away at the age of 51 after a battle with esophageal cancer. Paul left behind his wife Jennifer, their two young sons John and Seamus, family and many friends. During the time of Paul’s illness and eventual passing Paul, Jennifer, John and Seamus were the recipients of kindness, love and support. The Foundation is paying that kindness, love and support forward.

“Our goal is to help families facing a cancer diagnosis during the holiday season,” stated an email from the group’s founders. “Cancer not only affects the person with the disease but the whole family. Oftentimes, the holiday season can be particularly challenging. We are aiming to relieve some of the burden on families by providing a monetary donation in the month of December.”

The first-ever Reynolds Strong Golf Tournament follows a very successful Reynolds Strong gear fund-raiser. The nonprofit was able to raise $10,000 and helped five local families that faced a cancer diagnosis last holiday season.

“We are hoping to continue our success and raise even more money to help even more local families this upcoming December,” stated a press release.

There are multiple ways people can support the nonprofit and its cause through the upcoming golf tournament fund-raiser. The organization is looking for businesses to sponsor the tournament — the sponsorship levels range from $5,000 to $150. People can also donate to the Paul J. Reynolds Foundation or sign up to participate in the tournament.
