Gail L. Salisbury, 73, of Barrington

Gail L. Salisbury, 73, of Barrington, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of Alan H. Salisbury for 51 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (DeMaio) Santell. Gail was a school teacher at Portsmouth High School and Bristol Community College before she retired to raise her family. She was a 1967 graduate of Bryant College, obtaining a bachelor's degree in teacher education and then went on to receive her master's degree in 1973 from Providence College. Gail was a member of the Barrington Garden Club and won many state and local floral arranging awards. She was also a member of the Barrington Women's Club, the Crestwood Country Club in Rehoboth, Mass., and the Naples Lakes Country Club in Naples, Fla. She was a summer resident of Narragansett for over twenty years and for the past five winters, Gail was a resident of Naples Lakes Country Club in Naples, Fla. 

Gail enjoyed playing Bridge, Mahjong, golf and tennis.

The family would like to thank Dr. Flora Treger for the wonderful care that she provided to Gail during her illness.

Besides her husband she leaves two children, Jane E. Salisbury and Neal C. Salisbury (Anandy) and Jane's four children, Elizabeth, Catherine, Victoria and John. She was the sister of the late Barbara Frates.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, Washington Road, Barrington. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gail's memory can be made to the charity of your choice or to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 N. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
