The Barrington High School boys hockey team had a busy week going 1-2 last week beating North Kingstown 9-1 and losing a couple of nail-biters, first to Xavier High School (Conn.) 3-2 and then to East Greenwich 2-1.

The Eagles had 11 different skaters make the score sheet Wednesday night, Feb. 8, when they defeated North Kingstown. The Eagles put this one away early as they skated to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first period. Drake Almeida and Henry Kelsey led the way with two goals apiece. Adam Gorman, Joey Carmone, Connor Hayes, Cam Hayes and Chase Watts all added goals for the Eagles. Watts contributed three assists, Almeida and Trent Senn each had a couple of assists. Cody Wood, Bryce Kupperman, Bumpy Promades, Kelsey and the Hayes boys all added single assists. Cam Siwik turned away 24 of the 25 shots he faced.

On Saturday night, the Eagles traveled to Cromwell, Conn. to face the Xavier Falcons in a non-league game. The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 on a Watts goal assisted by Kelsey and Wood. The Falcons scored three goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead into the intermission. Almeida made the game interesting two minutes into the third with Johnny O'Connell and Wood assisting, but the Eagles could get no closer. Goaltender Dominic Bruzzi turned away 24 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Eagles lost to East Greenwich on Sunday. The Avengers took an early 1-0 lead. Watts tied it 10 minutes into the second period. The score remained that way until the Avengers took advantage of an errant puck in the neutral zone and broke in on the Siwik unimpeded. Siwik made the initial save, but the Avengers player capitalized on the rebound. Siwik stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced.

Barrington is 8-11-2 overall and 5-7-1 in the division.

The Eagles travel to Thayer Arena Friday night at 6 to take on top-ranked Bishop Hendricken, and host Burrillville on Saturday afternoon at 4.
