The Barrington High School girls basketball team lost to LaSalle 48-44 in the quarterfinals of the Division 1 tournament.
Playing Monday night, Feb. 21, at LaSalle Academy, the Eagles fell behind early and struggled to close the gap. Barrington trailed by nine points at halftime, but refused to quit. Despite shooting just 20 percent from the field for the game, Barrington managed to cut deep into LaSalle’s lead as time ran down.
“[We] closed it to 4 in the final couple minutes but we just could not get over the [h]ump and they made free throws down the stretch,” Barrington High School Coach Stephen Lenz wrote to the Barrington Times.
Maddie Gill led Barrington in scoring with 14 points, and Janaya Prince Baquero finished with 12.
Coach Lenz wrote that Barrington will play in the Open State Tournament, starting on Wednesday, March 1.
