Barrington girls win two singles matches

Posted

The Barrington High School girls tennis team opened the season with a 5-2 loss to North Kingstown on Friday, Sept. 15.

The Eagles, playing at home, picked up both their wins in singles matches. Ava Koczera-Kasem won her match at number one singles and Charlotte Byon was victorious at fourth singles.

Barrington High School Coach Polly Danyla said the Eagles’ second and third singles players, Ava Grant and Sadie Spector, respectively, also competed hard — “the girls were neck and neck in our second and third singles matches, and number three doubles went into three sets.”

Barrington’s doubles teams are Zeynep Abul and Addy Friedman at first doubles, Jillian Frechette and Anna Pani at second doubles, and Ella Schweier and Jasmine Malik at third doubles.

The Eagles are scheduled to play at Smithfield on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The Barrington High School girls tennis team reached the state semifinals last fall.
