Question: In your opinion, what steps could the next town council take to improve existing public-private partnerships and develop more partnerships in the future?
• Jacob Brier — "Public-private partnerships are a keystone in the economic development arch. The steps I would take to leverage these for Barrington are: 1) expeditiously review the current program; 2) establish benchmarks for existing and new partnerships; 3) prioritize gaps between program and community demand; 4) recruit new partners to fill gaps."
• Steve Primiano — "Listening and communicating are the best way to improve and expand public-private partnerships. Maintenance of the athletic fields is a good example where we need to do a better job working with the leagues. Residents ask me about programs they would like to see added or expanded. Many are not a primary responsibility of government. The town can facilitate some of these by partnering with private groups."
• Michael Carroll — "We can: • Meet regularly with youth athletic and arts organizations to ensure they have the tools to educate our children; • Engage with groups like Age-Friendly Barrington, to better understand and serve the needs of our seniors; and; • Make our business and faith communities part of our disaster response and resiliency efforts."
