Barrington High School’s Bryce Kupperman and Gabe Anderson won the state doubles championship on Saturday, May 13.

Kupperman, a sophomore, and Anderson, a freshman, knocked off the team Riley Zizza and Shane Ciunci from Bishop Hendricken, 6-4, 6-4, in the championship match, which was played at Slater Park.

The BHS doubles team battled back from a slow start — Kupperman and Anderson trailed 4-2 in the first set before running off four straight wins. The Barrington team also held off a late rally by Hendricken.

In the semifinals, Kupperman and Anderson defeated a doubles team from Moses Brown, 6-2, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, the Eagles team defeated a doubles team from Mount St. Charles, 6-3, 7-5.
