The Westport girls' basketball team honored their lone senior Molly Costa before falling to Wareham 44-41 in their final home game of the season on Wednesday night. The 6-12 Wildcats with a power ranking of 41, missed the tournament for the first time in years.
Junior forward Skylar Rezendes scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats in the loss. Westport, who was down 19-18 at halftime and 34-28 after three quarters, scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 3-points before time ran out. Guard Kylie Hazel sank a pair of 3-pointers and scored eleven points, Sophia Rego netted four, Jenna George sank a 3-pointer and Emily Sowersby and Costa each added two points.

Wildcats finish 3-17
The Westport basketball team beat Atlantis Charter 62-46 and Avon 74-62 before losing their final two games to finish the season 3-17. They also missed the playoffs for the first time in years after last season's wonderful ride to the final four last spring.
Westport fell to Fairhaven 52-30 and Holbrook 67-53 in their final two games last week. The good news is that they have all but one player coming back next season.
