Westport police: Two DUIs and drug arrests

Monday, June 16

Police got a call about a civil dispute on Loan Street at 12:58 p.m. A similar call came in from Old Bedford Road at 2:35 p.m.

Jane Ellen Weatherby, 60, of 63 East Bowery St., Newport, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after a 911 caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Drift Road at 1:09 p.m. Police pulled her over on Drift Road.

A Newton Street resident reported receiving threats at 2:25 p.m.

Police looked for but could not locate a suspicious person reported by a Spinnaker Way caller at 3:10 p.m.

Animal complaints came in from Benoit Street at 5:26 p.m., and from Riverview Drive at 6:06 p.m.

A 911 call regarding a brush fire on Sanford Road was transferred to the fire department at 5:57 p.m.

Police were asked to keep the peace on Old Bedford Road at 8:40 p.m.

Tuesday, June 17

A noise complaint came in from Plymouth Boulevard, at Benoit Street, at 11:04 p.m.

Wednesday, June 18

A caller from Tickle Road reported a car fire at 1:12 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from Old County Road at 5:42 p.m., and from Blossom Road at 8:15 p.m.

Police processed four firearms licensing requests over the course of the day.

Thursday, June 19

Animal complaints came in from Briggs Road at 9:27 a.m., and from Old Bedford Road at 5:24 p.m.

A Robert Street caller reported a neighbor dispute at 10:24 a.m.

Police served a restraining order on Drift Road at 12:43 p.m.

Thomas A. Castonguay, 18, of 751 Somerset Ave., North Dighton, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, failure to stop at a signal, possession of Class A and Class B drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations, after a 911 caller reported a medical emergency on Old County Road at 11:21 p.m.

Friday, June 20

A 911 caller complained of a disturbance on R Drive at 7:49 a.m. Similar calls came in from Drift Road at 4:40 p.m. and State Road at 11:37 p.m.

A caller from Barbara Street reported suspicious activity at 9:36 p.m.

Saturday, June 21

Jason Christopher Swauger, 42, of 601 Woodman St., Fall River, was arrested on a default warrant after police were called to Sanford Road at 10:28 p.m. for a disturbance.

Parking enforcement officers ticketed eight vehicles at Westport beaches over the course of the day.

Sunday, June 22

A noise complaint came in from Hix Bridge Road at 1:14 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from East Cross Road at 8:28 a.m.

An Amory Petty Way caller complained of noise at 3:45 p.m.

Parking enforcement officers ticketed four vehicles at Westport beaches over the course of the day.
