Westport police logs: Several theft, forgery arrests

Monday, August 26

Callers reported road hazards on American Legion Highway (1:43 p.m. and 4:41 p.m.), and Gifford Road (4:09 p.m.).

A 911 caller from Old County Road lodged animal complaints at 9:01 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles and issued one citation over the course of the day.

Tuesday, August 27

A noise complaint came in from Main Road just before 6 a.m.

Police served a warrant on Sanford Road at 3:22 p.m.

A 911 call regarding a structure fire on American Legion Highway came in at 4:09 p.m.

Police investigated a report of suspicious activity called in from Sanford Road at 11:06 p.m.

Police pulled over and cited two drivers over the course of the day.

Wednesday, August 28

A driver on Route 195 reported a motor vehicle infraction via 911 at 2:13 p.m.

A caller from Old Bedford Road reported a disturbance at 5:41 p.m.

Nikki Lee Condon, 43, of 855 Main Road, was arrested following a complaint at 8:57 p.m. and charged with violation of a harassment protection order.

A caller from Drift Road reported a disturbance at 9:38 p.m.

Police pulled over five vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, August 29

A Sanford Road resident complained of harassment at 11:09 a.m.

An accident reported by a State Road caller at 11:19 a.m. proved to be unfounded, police reported.

Animal complaints were lodged from Horseneck and East Beach roads at 12:17 p.m.

A Washington Street resident complained of property damage just after 1 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

Friday, August 30

A noise complaint came in from State Road at 1:14 a.m.

Police responded to a disturbance on Tickle Road at 3:16 a.m.

Timothy P. Croke, 55, of 433 Cornell Road, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. and charged with two counts of larceny over $1,200, one count of larceny over $1,200 by single scheme, two counts of uttering a false check, and two counts of forgery of a check.

A 911 caller complained of suspicious activity on Cadmans Neck Road at 12:49 p.m.

A Barbara Street resident complained of threats at 4:16 p.m.

Police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle on Majocka Drive at 7:34 p.m.

Police did not report pulling over any vehicles over the course of the day.

Saturday, August 31

Jose Francisco Sousa, 55, of 26 Rock St., Tiverton, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and was cited for a marked lanes violation, after police pulled him over on Route 88 at 1:05 a.m.

Robert DeMello, 30, of 1143 Horseneck Road, was arrested on American Legion Highway at 10:34 a.m. and charged with larceny over $1,200.

A 911 caller reported a vehicle fire on Main Road at 1:28 p.m.

A 911 caller reported road rage on State Road at 3:33 p.m.

Animal complaints came in from Holly Lane at 8:32 p.m.

A Gifford Road caller reported suspicious activity at 8:48 p.m.

Police pulled over three vehicles and issued one citation over the course of the day.

Sunday, Sept. 1

A caller from River Road reported a neighbor dispute at 1:41 p.m.

A State Road resident reported a civil dispute at 6:24 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Jennings Way at 8:18 p.m.

A caller from Main Road reported a suspicious vehicle at 9:17 p.m.

A caller from Gabriella Road lodged an animal complaint at 9:22 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
