Westport police log: Three charged after car trouble

Monday, Nov. 20

A caller from Forge Road reported suspicious activity just before 3:30 p.m.

A caller reported a motor vehicle violation on State Road at 4:28 p.m. Police deemed it unfounded.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Indian Trail Road at 6:21 p.m. Police restored the peace.

Animal complaints came in from Tickle Road at 6:54 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

Animal complaints came in from Charlotte White Road at 8:18 a.m.

A 911 caller from Rochelle Street reported breaking and entering at 11:26 a.m.

A 911 caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Adamsville Road at 4:20 p.m.

Three people were arrested after Westport police stopped to assist a disabled motorist in the area of State and Old Bedford roads at about 6 p.m. As Officer Jarrod Levesque checked the car’s registration, he learned that the owner, Wayne Ferreira, 54, of 763 Oak Grove, Apt. 1, Fall River, had an active arrest warrant. As police put him under arrest, a search turned up a bag of suspected cocaine in his sock. Meanwhile, police saw a passenger, Arielle LaFreniere, 37, of 61 Bullard, Apt. 4, New Bedford, reaching into the car. Police stopped her and while retrieving her purse from the back seat, found another bag of suspected cocaine. A third passenger in the vehicle, Cliff Cardoso, 41, of the same address as LaFreniere, was arrested on two unspecified warrants.

A 911 call regarding a brush fire on Robert Street was referred to the fire department at 10:05 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on Hix Bridge Road at 11 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 22

A caller from Old Bedford Road complained of an unwanted person at 4:46 p.m.

A Hunter’s Way resident complained of harassment at 5:37 p.m.

A caller reported property damage at American Legion Highway and Greenfield Road, just after 6 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 23

A caller from Beeden Place reported the violation of a restraining order at 1:54 a.m.

A 911 call regarding a fire on Old County Road was transferred to the fire department at 11:02 a.m.

Friday, Nov. 24

Kyana Lee Brooks, 30, of 67 Whipple St., first floor, Fall River, was arrested on an unspecified warrant following a traffic stop on State Road at 1:21 a.m.

A caller from Robert Street reported a neighbor dispute at 1:57 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 25

Mario Lopez, 33, of 358 Shaw St., New Bedford, was arrested on a default warrant after police pulled over a suspicious car on State Road at 2:42 a.m.

A Hix Bridge Road resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 1:30 p.m.

A Charlotte White Road resident reported an unwanted person at 10:43 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 26

A 911 caller from Irene Drive reported suspicious activity at 5:50 a.m.

Police assisted a disabled motorist on Sodom Road at 11:33 a.m.

A Main Road caller reported an unwanted person at 4:26 p.m.

A caller from Old Bedford Road reported harassment at 7:05 p.m.

A caller from Old County Road, at Mouse Mill, reported a suspicious person at 9:01 p.m., but police deemed the call unfounded.

A 911 caller from Forsythia Lane reported a disturbance at 9:23 p.m.
