Tiverton Police report: Gun threats, dirt bike disturbances

Saturday, Jan. 11

At 12:27 a.m., a patrolman encountered a person walking south on Stafford Road. The officer gave the man a 2.5 mile ride to his Tiverton home.

Fall River Police asked Tiverton Police to be on the lookout for a vehicle reported stolen by a Little Compton resident (along with the owner’s purse) from a Denny’s parking lot at 5:37 a.m. Tiverton Police reported later that video footage showed that vehicle on the Tiverton Casino premises at 5:47 a.m. 

Paul N. Nadeau, 76, of Fall River, was arrested on a 2nd District Court warrant at 5:30 p.m.

At 9:51 a.m., an officer reported that he was checking on a vehicle outside the Tiverton Casino containing three unattended children.

At 12:58 p.m., police were called to a report of a person going into people’s open garages in the area of East Beardsworth Road. Police checked the area — no sign of the vehicle described.

Police were called to Brayton Road for a complaint of “moto-cross activity” at 2:21 p.m. Nothing found.

At 3:50 p.m., possible domestic incident — 911 caller reports that aunt swung a cane at him. Responding officer reports “parties are separated.”

At 4:34 p.m. 911 caller reports disturbance at house on Bulgarmarsh Road — three people, one has crowbar. Officer reports, “these parties are winterizing the house.”

A caller reported hearing gunshots in the area of the Stafford Road boat ramp at 5:43 p.m. Responding officers heard nothing.

Sunday, Jan. 12

Martin M. Riley, 20, of Middletown, was arrested on a charge of reckless driving at 2:34 p.m. on Crandall Road.

Naomi D. Torres, 23, of Fall River, was arrested on a 2nd District Court bench warrant and on a charge of driving with a suspended license at 5:02 p.m. on Canning Boulevard.

At 4:07 a.m., and at 10:11 a.m. DEM was notified about two deer struck and killed at separate locations on Route 24.

A caller reported a possible rabid coyote near Route 24, Fish Road exit at 2:32 p.m. The animal could not be found.

Monday, Jan. 13

At 12:05 a.m., Brett T. Fortes, 25, of Fall River, was arrested at the Tiverton Casino on a charge of domestic vandalism.

Derek D. Carvalho, 37, of 42 Bay St., Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of violating a no-contact order at 6:48 p.m.

Accident, car vs. deer at 7:32 a.m. on Stafford Road —the deer ran off.

At 4:48 p.m., police and firefighters were called to Tiverton Middle School for a report of fire. The blaze, in the area of the rear loading dock, was extinguished before engines arrived. State fire marshal is investigating.

A resident reported that a scam caller stated he had a court order to seize her bank account for an old credit card. Caller had Social Security number, email address and other information.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 1:04 a.m. to assist with an ejection in connection with Rhode Island State Police investigation of a table game violation.

Called to Bourne Mill Apartments at 1:46 a.m. for a suspicious vehicle, an officer found person “is homeless, just sleeping in the vehicle.”

A caller reported car tire damage to the Town Farm soccer field.

A caller reported illegal dumping at a Fish Road location.

Police went to a Main Road location at 12:59 p.m. for a report of neighbor harassment — “threatened with gun, weapon not seen.” Ongoing dispute stemming from cable wire allegedly being cut.

At 8:42 p.m., police were called to Myrtle Way for a report of dirt bikes and ATVs. Police spoke to one of the dirt bike riders.

9:06 p.m.: “Dirt bike operator from previous call now fighting with neighbors.”

Wednesday, Jan. 15

Marie Pike, 43, of Dartmouth, Mass., was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence at 7:59 p.m. on King Road.

Police went to Bulgarmarsh Road for a report of a two-car accident at 9:53 a.m. “No injuries involved, parties are arguing.” At 10:05 a.m., police asked “send a rescue.”

At 12:31 p.m., “car into trees” reported on Route 24 near Fish Road exit. No injuries.

At 3:20 p.m., a call came in from a Fall River bank reporting that a Tiverton customer said he had been scammed and wanted to withdraw $10,000 to bring to the Police Department to “catch” the scammer. An officer advised the man not to withdraw any money — said police would take a report and investigate.

Police received a 911 call at 6:49 p.m. about a two car accident (one struck a stone wall) with injuries on King Road. 

Thursday, Jan. 16

Robert A. Homer, 53, of 909 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct at 2:55 p.m. 

A car struck a sign and pole on Main Road near Amicable Church at 10:30 a.m. — no injuries.

A Bulgarmarsh Road resident was treated and released at Newport Hospital after being bitten by her own dog at her house.

Tiverton Casino security called at 5:31 a.m. about a previously ejected person who has returned to the casino.
