Tiverton Police: Drone’s demise, men in black hoodies

Tuesday, March 23

A 911 caller at Applecreek Apartments, Windwood Drive, reported children jumping up and down and making noise in a nearby apartment at 11:38 pm.

Wednesday, March 24

A  12:49 am Crandall Road caller reported that dogs had been barking at a nearby property for several hours. Police could not contact anyone at that address.

At 2 am, an Applecreek Apartments, Windwood Drive, resident reported noise in another apartment. An officer checked but the noise had stopped.

A deer had to be shot after it was struck at 2:50 am on Main Road.

At 6:07 am, a caller reported that a man wearing a black hoodie with blood on his hand entered and then left Cumberland Farms on Main Road. Police located the man and called rescue; the man was transported to St, Anne’s Hospital.

Police went to Old Bulgarmarsh Road at 10:32 am to deal with a 911 call about a neighbor dispute involving trees being cut.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 11:47 am to assist with an ejection.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 12:50 pm to assist with a permanent ejection.

Donald L. Howarth, 50, of Assonet, Mass., was arrested on a charge of trespassing at 1:14 pm at the Tiverton Casino.

At 5:18 pm, a 911 caller at Grinnell’s Beach reported that another vehicle struck his and took off north.

A car on Bulgarmarsh Road was badly damaged when it struck a deer at 7:37 pm. No word on the deer.

Thomas A. Calhoun, 33, of Fall River, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant and on charge of weapons possession (other than a firearm) at 5:20 pm on Main Road near the Fall River line.

Steven A. Lamond, 30, of Fall River, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, .15 blood alcohol percent or more, at 11:26 pm on Main Road.

Thursday, March 25

Police went to Bourne Mill Apartments at 9:46 am for a report that people were partying, drinking and smoking in a car with tinted windows in the parking lot. An officer found a man cleaning his car.

Multiple no-trespass orders were given out after police responded to a ‘threats made’ report from Fairfield Avenue at 10:17 am.

Eagleville Road residents called police to complain about blasting in the area at 12:57 pm and 1:50 pm.

Christina L. Couture, 30, of 124 Pelletier Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on a Superior Court Bench warrant, a bench warrant from 6th District Court, and on a charge of driving with a suspended license at 9:38 pm on Stafford Road.

An officer helped a motorist change a tire on Fish Road at 4:05 pm.

Friday, March 26

An abandoned vehicle was towed from the Tiverton Casino garage after a registration check showed that it been stolen in Brockton, Mass. 

Robert J. Rogers, 53, of 6 Pine Tree Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card, and on an affidavit and arrest warrant at 4:30 pm on Judson Street.

Saturday, March 27

Lynette A. Mcpherson, 64, of Taunton, Mass., was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, blood alcohol content of .10-.15 percent, at 12:54 am on Main Road.

Blake D. Berry, 36, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd District Court, and on charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing a police officer at 3:03 am at the Tiverton Casino.

A medical center called police to report that a Canonicus Street resident was being treated for a dog bite.

A Mount Hope Avenue reported at 1:44 pm that someone is flying a drone near the pond and the caller is worried that it might be distracting for Route 24 motorists.

At 3:01 pm, a caller reported suspicious activity at the pond by Mount Hope Avenue — “a male hopped the fence and is trying to retrieve something from the pond using a fishing line.” An officer went and found, “Party is trying to retrieve his drone (see previous call).”

911 callers reported a large amount of smoke coming from the town dump off Main Road at 6:06 pm. A small oil/grease fire was extinguished.

An intoxicated man was reported to be attempting to drive off from the Tiverton Casino parking garage at 8:40 pm. He was gone when police arrived.

A man from out of state called Mass. DCYF to report being informed that a mother in Tiverton was deceased and her 4-year-old child was at the scene. DCYF said they suspect someone is playing a prank on the family. Police checked and the mother and child are fine.

Police went to Beardsworth Road at 9:10 pm for a report that someone may be pumping septic waste onto a neighboring property. The property owner said he has a Monday appointment to have the tank cleaned out.

Sunday, March 28

Matzatz Ventura Gonzales, 22, of New Bedford, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, refusing to submit to a chemical rest, and driving without a license at 12:50 am.

At 8:18 am, police went to check on a parked car with fogged windows near the dam on Pond Bridge Road. “Parties will be on their way,” an officer reported.

A neighbor dispute was reported by a 911 caller at Bourne Mill Apartments at 6:42 pm.

Monday, March 29

At 12:53 pm, a Fairfield Avenue resident called police to complain that his neighbor was cutting down his bushes.

Police were notified at 1:39 pm that a large amount of trash had been dumped at the junction of Progress Way and Industrial Drive.

Police received a report of vandalism at the Tiverton Casino at 1:53 pm.

Police were called at 3:13 pm to Judson Street at Bay Street for a man wearing a black hoodie carrying bolt cutters ducking in and out of the woods near the fuel storage tanks. The man could not be located.

Detectives responded to Pelletier Lane after receiving a 911 call at 5:15 pm from a resident who reported a break-in. She was advised to wait outside. 

A motorist contacted police via 911 that a vehicle was all over the road on Main Road at 6:32 pm.

Two loose dogs were reported on Captain’s Circle at 7:08 pm.
