Soon a change is coming to Horseneck Road. The old 200-plus year old farm house at 406 Horseneck Road will be demolished into pieces and stored in box trailers to be rebuilt who knows where or when.
The owner requested a demolition permit two weeks after he purchased the property. The Historical Committee allowed him a year to find a more suitable solution than destruction. It seems he wants it out of sight upon his return from Florida.
How sad that the wealthy owner shows no respect for the history of farms in Westport. A better solution would have been to restore the house and be proud that he contributed to Westport history. Instead we will be looking at an empty lot where once stood a majestic landmark symbolizing the rich history of family farming.
