Dear Dianne Baron and Tony Viveiros, Westport School Building Committee …
We need to follow up on our earlier correspondence and your replies to say that we have reviewed all of your communications relative to the omission of administrative space in the new school and have the following comments;
• Again, all reliable sources tell us that administration must be on site in order to have a well functioning school.
• So, you must find the space for them in the current building! We do not know the exact number of people involved but it would require less than 1 percent of the total square footage.
Go with an open space design concept using the recommended square footage of 90 square feet for management stations with partitions and 175 square feet for private offices. Just 1 percent of the total footage would give us five private offices and 12 stations or some combination of the above. Most important too is the fact that no other facilities are necessary like bathrooms et all.
• Conclusion, you have no other reasonable choice. Any outside space is going to cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars no matter how you slice it, and be less efficient etc etc.
You can make it happen so please do it.
