Letter: Effort assures that Santos Farm ‘postcard views’ will endure

Posted

To the editor:

Kudos to the Westport Land Conservation Trust that has secured the preservation of the iconic Santos Farm. Along with the town’s Community Preservation Committee, Agricultural Open Space Trust Fund Council and generous individual donors, these “postcard views” will endure for generations to come.

The Farm is a 24/7 operation.  It has been so throughout three generations of the Santos family – we owe our appreciation to family members for their decades of hard work. Our family remembers Grandma Santos sitting at the end of her driveway with her offerings of fresh eggs and flowers. Many a problem may have been solved during those seasonal transactions. We look forward to this bucolic view being maintained as a setting for future sunsets.
