Carol A. Novo, 77, Westport

Carol A. (Mello) Novo, 77, of Westport, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Hathaway Manor. She was the wife of the late Albert Novo; they shared 54 years of marriage.

Mrs. Novo was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Joseph C. Mello, Jr. and Diamantina (Carreiro) Mello and had lived in Westport for most of her life. 

Following her graduation from Westport High School, she went on to work at Grand Central Market in Tiverton, Davis Roller Print in Fall River, Budget Restrooms in Westport and Sarama Lighting. Prior to her retirement in 2008, she had worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Graduate Studies Office at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for more than 22 years.

She enjoyed wintering in Davenport, Florida, and summering May-October at East Beach Road, Westport, where she spent time with her loving family and friends and enjoyed the spectacular sunsets on the beach.

She is survived by her two sons, Keith J. Novo and his wife Deborah of Westport, and Kenneth A. Novo and his fiancée Valerie Amorin of Westport; her brother, Joseph C. Mello III and his wife Annette of Portsmouth; her grandchildren, Amanda Novo, Andrew Dubois-Novo and Brandon Dubois; her great granddaughter, Eliza Bella Dubois; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, October 24, at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
