Antone Almeida Jr., 92, of Westport and Zephyrhills, Fla., died Friday, September 21, 2018, at home. He was the husband of the late Edith E. (Roylance) Almeida.
Born in Little Compton, son of the late Antone Almeida Sr. and the late Emily (Mello) Almeida, he had lived in Westport for most of his life. A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the United States Army.
Prior to retirement in 1986, he was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was the former owner and operator of Blue Acres Campground, Westport. He served as Deputy Chief of the former Head of Westport Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Almeida was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Westport, the American Legion James Morris Post 145, Westport, and the VFW Ouellette Post 8502, Westport. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a son, Antone Almeida III and his wife Barbara of Westport; two daughters, Sharon E. Almeida of Fall River and Dawn E. Clarkson and her husband Gordon of Westport; and four grandchildren. He was the father of the late Penny E. Peckham.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are invited, are Monday, September 24, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 7 p.m. Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
