Alice May LaBerge, Westport

Posted

Alice May (Allen) LaBerge, passed away peacefully, April 19, 2021, at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford.

Alice was the daughter of the late David William Allen and Alice May (Brightman) Allen, and the sister of the late Grace Elizabeth (Allen) Jeffrey.  Alice grew up in Westport in a family that sang on the weekends and always played music.  Her sister Grace played piano, Alice played violin and her father played violin, banjo and harmonica.

Her parents had the Landing Tea Room at the Head of Westport and she spent summers there swimming in the river.  She loved being on the farm in the summer with the animals and in the winter, ice skating at the "S" curve on Gifford Road and on Grandpa Simmon's mill pond.

She went to her senior prom with Harold Sisson Sr. and married him soon after.  She loved to cook, and was a great one, loved doing "Ladies who Lunch" with her daughter, grand-daughter and great-grand daughter, going for ice cream and to Savers.  She always had a cat, was an avid knitter, loved chocolate, cheese and playing scat for nickels.

She leaves two daughters, Faye Roies and Candy (Alice May) Sisson, both of Westport. She was the mother of the late Carol Allen (Sisson) Motta and Harold (Jack) Sisson Jr.

Services are private under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport..

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kindred Hospice, 275 Martine St, Ste 202, Fall River, MA 02723.
