Acclaimed Author Ted Widmer to Speak at Central Congregational Church

Posted

Dr. Ted Widmer - American historian, writer, former White House advisor, native Rhode Islander, and nationally acclaimed author - will discuss his book “Lincoln on the Verge: Thirteen Days to Washington.”

The book delves into an unexplored episode in Lincoln’s life: the president-elect’s 1861 journey to Washington and his inauguration – a time when the United States was gravely divided. Dr. Widmer will examine the lessons that apply to other divided moments in history, how Lincoln still speaks to us today, and if anyone can rise to the occasion in the way that he once did.
