In this time and age pretty much the thing to do is pay your bills online. Where many are free, some charge you a nominal fee of $4 or $5.

I was appalled that Warren charges …

Warren's online tax payment fee is outrageous

To the editor:

In this time and age pretty much the thing to do is pay your bills online. Where many are free, some charge you a nominal fee of $4 or $5.

I was appalled that Warren charges $36 to pay for a $1,241.83 quarterly bill! Why are we paying so much to process town taxes online?

The tax collector must look for another method of payment that does not require so much money from town citizens. That is a rip off!

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
