Some of Warren’s finest and bravest will be honored next month for their life-saving actions in several recent emergencies.

At its October meeting, the Warren Town Council is expected to honor Police Officer Adam Jennings for his actions on Friday, July 19, when he responded along with fire crews to a report of a smoky fire on Davis Street. The officer was unable to get a response when he arrived at the house, but broke down the front door and discovered that the occupant, a middle-aged man, had fallen asleep while cooking. The house had filled with smoke from burning food and Warren Fire Chief James Sousa said his actions might have prevented a tragedy.

The other recognitions — of officers Matthew Hozempa and Kenneth Medeiros, as well as Chief Sousa and the Rescue Department — pertain to a call received on Sunday, July 21. There, Keri Davock of the Market Street Pub suffered a medical emergency while at work, and the officers’ actions, as well as those from responding rescue department members and fire fighters, saved her life.

Chief Sousa said Tuesday that the rescue department was recognized as a whole because “there were just so many people who responded” and ensuring nobody was missed for praise would have been difficult, given that impressive turnout.

The recognitions were due to be given by the council this past Tuesday, but were postponed a month.
