Warren police logs: No arrests, but social distancing complaints steady

A Wheaton Street woman called police out of concern for her brother, who she thought might have been under the influence of narcotics.

Rescue crews were called to Long Wharf Drive after a woman said she heard a man yelling for help outside. It turns out the man had an arm injury; he was taken to the hospital.

A Village Road woman complained to police that construction workers at a neighbor’s home were working in close proximity of each other and were not wearing masks. Police advised them to practice proper social distancing.

A Metacom Avenue woman reported that a package may have been stolen from her doorstep.

A caller reported a turtle stuck in the middle of Kinnicutt Avenue. The animal control officer moved it to the side of the road.

A passer-by reported multiple duffers at the Warren Town Beach, hitting golf balls into the water. Police spoke to them.

A nurse at Grace Barker Health requested transport for a patient who was positive for Covid-19.

Police advised a Federal Street resident to extinguish a small fire that had been lit in the back yard.

Tuesday, May 5

Employees at a Metacom Avenue business (unnamed in dispatch log) were not wearing masks when serving customers, a caller complained. Police arrived and noted that masks were being worn.

A caller reported a large group of kids riding bikes near Main Street and Locust Terrace.

An employee at a Market Street business (unnamed in dispatch log) reported that a man had been recording them and yelling vulgarities. He left on a bike, the caller said. Minutes later, the man called police to report that the employees were not wearing masks.

A Beechwood Court resident complained that a neighbor’s open burn pile was forcing smoke into his home. Fire crews told the neighbor to extinguish the fire.

Wednesday, May 6

Police got a call about a large group of people playing basketball at Burr’s Hill.

A caller from Long Lane reported that someone parked in a car across the street was watching their house. It turned out to be a “Door Dash” delivery driver delivering food to another home./

Thursday, May 7

A Sisson Street man was taken to the hospital after he called and asked for a ride to detox.

Police dispersed a group of juveniles on Child Street and advised them of social distancing rules.

A Child Street man reported the possible theft of mail.

Saturday, May 9

A Warren Avenue resident complained of “constant harassment” from a neighbor.

Police dispersed about a dozen juveniles gathering in violation of safety and social distancing orders, on Market Street just before 2:30 p.m.

A Child Street man reported being harassed over the phone and through Social Media.

A Long Lane man complained that his neighbor was playing loud music and shining a spotlight onto his property.

Sunday, May 10

A Child Street man told police that there was a man across the street on his roof, and he was acting strangely. Police learned the man was trying to get his cat off the roof.
