Warren police logs: Gunshots fired were just hunters, police say

Monday, Jan. 20

A caller complained that the driver of a red pickup had knocked over multiple mailboxes on Vernon Street. Police found the truck unoccupied and spoke to the owner; he said his son might have been driving it.

Tuesday, Jan. 21

A Child Street woman complained that her neighbors had dumped a rug in her front yard.

A Water Street resident reported fraud.

A loose cattle call came in from Hanley Lane. Police said there was no loose livestock, however “party advised about rooster.”

Police dispersed a man reported shouting at a clerk at a Main Street store.

A caller told police that kids might be fighting on the soccer field at Kickemuit Middle School. Turns out they were just playing around.

An Arlington Avenue man left his house just after 4:30 p.m. to find a window on his car smashed.

Police looked for a man who was reported tipping over trash cans around Liberty and Main streets.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

A Hope Street man told police that someone smeared food and trash all over his vehicle.

A caller complained about someone skateboarding all over Main Street just before 4 p.m.

Someone passed a counterfeit $10 bill at a Main Street store.

A taxi driver flagged down an officer on Main Street just before 9 a.m. and complained that a fare refused to pay. Police reported about 40 minutes later that the customer had made good.

Thursday, Jan. 23

A caller told police that there was a car driving suspiciously around Main Street, and that the driver had stopped in a parking lot. Police checked it out: The occupants were playing Pokemon Go.

A Sowamsett Avenue man requested a rescue to take him to Rhode Island Hospital for detox.

A caller from Davis Street complained about an oily smell that had been in her basement for days.

Police looked for but could not locate a Jeep that a caller said had been at the scene of a drug deal on Market Street just after 11 a.m.

Rescue crews took a Main Street woman to the hospital just before 10 p.m. after 911 received call about an overdose. Police reported that Narcan, an anti-opioid, was used and the woman was breathing.

Friday, Jan. 24

Richard B. Skrobish, 63, of Portsmouth, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over just after midnight at Market and Adams streets.

Police disposed of a hypodermic needle after a caller reported finding it on Market Street.

A Lincoln Avenue woman reported a possibly sick fox in her yard. When the animal control officer tried to approach it, it ran into the woods.

A caller complained that a driver was “texting and swerving” on Market Street just after 1:30 p.m. A few hours later, a similar call came in from Fairview Avenue.

Saturday, Jan. 25

A Main Street man complained about loud music and noise from the apartment below him.

Fabian Lima, 42, of Barrington, was arrested for violating a protective order.

A caller told police that there might be a man involved with drugs on Wood Street.

A Summer Street resident reported hearing gunshots. Hunters were nearby but police noted they were maintaining a safe distance.

Sunday, Jan. 26

Jose Caetano Rego, 45, of 18 Barden Lane, was charged with violating a no contact order.

Two men who’d earlier been involved in a road rage incident apparently pulled over on Parker Avenue and were yelling at each other, police said.

Christopher Howard, 31, of Somerset, was charged with obstructing an officer and driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over at Metacom Avenue and Franklin Street at 5:21 p.m.

A Union Street resident complained that there were two sofas on the sidewalk blocking pedestrian passage. Police spoke to the owner who told them they wouldn’t fit through the door.
