Warren police logs: Cows on the loose

Monday, March 22
A caller from Kinnicutt Avenue reported that livestock appeared to have been attacked by an animal overnight.

Danielle DeBrito, 36, of Fall River, was charged with driving without or on an expired license, after police pulled her over on Serpentine Road at 9:23 a.m.

A caller from Serpentine Road complained about a helicopter continually flying overhead. An officer reported that it was likely a National Grid chopper.

A resident complained about an open burn on Laurel Lane, at Cedar.

A caller reported an injured woodchuck on Wood Street, reporting back a few minutes later that it had crawled into a sewer drain.

William H. Gilleau, 35, of Providence, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Main Street just after 5 p.m.

A Long Wharf Drive woman came in to the police station to report that her son was being harassed.

A Vernon Street caller reported an injured raccoon in his yard. An officer came out to have a look and said all was OK, and that the animal was "on its way."

Police reunited a resident with his lost wallet after a passer-by found and turned it in.

Esabel J. Chubka, 23, of Cranston, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled her over on Culter Street at 8:23 p.m.

A resident at the Waterview condominiums on Child Street reported a strange sound in the building. An officer said it might have come from a dehumidifier.

Tuesday, March 23
Marcia D. Perreira, 27, of Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled her over on Market Street at 5:31 a.m.

Police looked for but could not find a person reported yelling at traffic passing on Child Street just after 9:30 a.m.

Paul Woodbine, 58, of Narragansett, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, first offense, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 11:45 a.m.

Jose Ariles, 46, of Bristol, was charged with driving without or on an expired license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Kickemuit Road at 12:11 p.m.

Kellie L. Varela, 51, of 14 Brown St., first floor, was arrested on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant.

Police took a juvenile home to parents after receiving a call about people with flashlights, and possibly an open burn, in the woods off Franklin Street.

A Market Street caller complained of loud music in the area at 10:21 p.m.

Wednesday, March 24
A woman called police just after midnight to report that someone appeared to be taking the catalytic converter off a car parked on Water Street. Though the suspect left, police were able to get a description; East Providence police pulled the car over a short time later. No word on any charges.

A man came in to headquarters to request a ride to the hospital for alcohol detox.

A Barden Lane woman called police after spotting a sick fox in her yard.

A Park Street woman asked that police speak to her neighbor, whose young child was reportedly throwing dirt at her car.

Police were called to a family dispute on Buffalo Avenue at 9:20 p.m. A rescue was dispatched for an intoxicated woman.

Thursday, March 25
A woman on Market Street found two stray dogs roaming around the property while she was at work. She corralled them in her car and called for an animal control officer.

Police were called to the Kickemuit Middle School for a student who had "inappropriate" items in his bag.

A caller reported an erratic driver on Market Street just before 2 p.m.

A caller from Seymour Street asked for police help with an unruly juvenile.

A caller from Fern Drive complained of fireworks at 5:26 p.m. Police could not locate the source.

A Water Street caller told police that her neighbor's kids were being loud and also playing music loudly.

Police were called out to Warren Avenue, after a caller reported that two young sisters were having an argument.

Daniel J. Amat, 53, of Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Market Street just after 9 p.m.

Everett James, 20, of Tiverton, was charged with driving without or on an expired license, second offense, after pollcie pulled him over on Handy Street at 11:58 p.m.

Friday, March 26
A Stuart Street woman called to request help dealing with her unruly daughter.

A caller complained about a man panhandling just before 11 a.m. on Main Street. Police looked for but could not locate him.

Portsmouth police picked up Michael T. Giarusso, 58, of Cranston, on a Warren warrant for obtain money under false pretenses (under $1,500).

Police assisted a man whose car broke down at the intersection of Metacom and Franklin streets just after 12:30 p.m.

Multiple callers from Canario and Ridgeway drives reported spotting a loose cow in the area.

Police spoke to the driver of an erratic vehicle that had been reported on Main Street just after 5 p.m.

An anonymous tipster complained about narcotics activity at a Child Street address.

A Lyndon Street woman told police her car may have been stolen or towed. She called back about 22 minutes later to report all OK; she'd parked the car on Main Street but forgotten.

Police dispersed a large group of juveniles from the Pete Sepe Pavilion.
Another group of juveniles was dispersed from Wood Street after a caller complained that they were harassing her grandchildren.

A Homestead Avenue resident complained about a neighbor's open burn.
Police got a call about several juveniles climbing walls in the Tourister development.

Saturday, March 27
Police helped a woman who locked herself out of her Manning Street home.

Police looked for but could not locate a possible drunk driver called in at 9:58 a.m. on Market Street.

A caller complained that several people were riding dirt bikes on the bike path near Asylum Road.

A man came in to pick up his wallet after one was found at Main and Campbell streets.

A young boy called police to report that he had not heard from his mother in several weeks. Police contacted the woman, who said she would reach out.

Sunday, March 28
A Brittney Lane caller complained about ongoing harassment and threats.

A caller asked that police check on the well-being of an infant who, he said, appeared to have been struck by a woman he knows during a video chat.

Police checked it out and found no issues with the infant. The reporting party is going through a break-up with the woman in the video chat, police noted.
