Warren Police Log: Property listed for sale without owner's knowledge, cooking mishap causes 'alarm'

The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police logs from Monday, Feb. 17-Sunday, Feb. 23:

Monday, Feb. 17

A resident of Meadow Street came to Warren Police Headquarters at approximately 6 p.m. to report "suspicious activity," telling law enforcement unbeknownst to him his property had been listed as for sale on Craig's List. The man requested an increase police presence in his neighborhood. No further action was taken.

Tuesday, Feb. 18

Police received a breaking and entering call at about 8:20 a.m. on Main Street, reporting someone may have entered his apartment. The responding officer found no evidence of forced entry and no property was missing. The officer reported having spoken with neighbor who stated that he noticed the complainant's door was slightly ajar, but did not see or hear anyone in the apartment.

A Warren man was arrested after police responded to a domestic call at just before 11 a.m. on Croade Street. A male and female were reported fighting with potentially a weapon involved. Derrick Hopkins, 47, of 59 Croade St., Apt. #2S, was arrested on alleged charges of domestic violence - simple assault and/or battery - 1st offense and domestic violence - disorderly conduct - 1st offense.

Wednesday, Feb. 19

Police assisted in the return of a person's missing cell phone at about 9 a.m. The party said the phone was pinging at a residence on Water Street. Officers responded to the location where the phone was located and returned the owner without incident.

Thursday, Feb. 20

A suspicious vehicle call turned out to be a different kind of two-wheeler than first believed. Police were called to the area of Wood Street at around 6:30 p.m. pertaining to an all terrain vehicle seen in a grassy area of the park. The vehicle, however, was simply an electric bicycle.

Friday, Feb. 21

Police were called to an apartment on Metacom Avenue at just after 9:30 p.m. to respond to an alleged "loud" verbal disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer on site spoke to residents of the location, who claimed not to have heard anything.

Sunday, Feb. 23

Public safety personnel responded to a fire alarm on Libby Lane at about 4:50 p.m. Upon arrival, Warren Firefighters confirmed the alarm was due to a "cooking mishap" and that personnel would assist in ventilating the residence.
