This Sunday, June 12 will mark the 120th consecutive celebration of the annual Warren Firefighters’ Memorial. The event will being with mass at St. Mary’s Church at 8:00 a.m., with a parade following from the town’s fire department headquarters at 11:00 a.m.

“It’s a great opportunity for the town’s residents to come out and show their support for the volunteers of the Warren fire and rescue,” said Warren Fire Chief James Sousa. “Every year we pay tribute to and honor members of the past year and years before.”

The parade, featuring all department members, apparatus, and with the addition of the Mt. Hope High School marching band, will proceed up Croade Street to Main Street, moving north towards Water Street and State Street, ending at the Town Common, where a memorial service will be held in remembrance of the fire and rescue personnel who have passed in the preceding year.

The guest speaker for the event this year will be Warren Fire Captain Chris Stanley of Engine 1, a former Town Council President with nearly 30 years of service in the volunteer fire service.

This year marks the 220th anniversary of the establishment of the volunteer Warren Fire Department.
