Frerichs Farm was the site of a new fun family tradition this past Saturday. Technically it’s a variation of the mud run that outdoor educational nonprofit group, Thrive Outside, has held for the past five years, but this year’s “Great Mud Escape” had some additional twists for participants to try out.

Teams of parents and kids and friends worked to strategize how to best tackle obstacles and brain teasers, allowing them to escape without slogging through the mud. Of course, for some, that was the most fun part regardless.

The event also was used to raise awareness of Thrive Outside's ongoing campaign to raise money for a new outdoor learning zone at Kickemuit Middle School.

The group is hoping to raise $300,000 towards the initiative, and if you wish to donate to the cause, you can visit their donation page here.
