Paul A. Miranda, 78, of Warren, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Hope Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria DoCarmo DeMello (Soares) Miranda.

He was born in San Jose, Ponta Del Gada, Azores, Portugal, a son of the late Antonio Carvalho Miranda and Alchadrina (Pacheco) Miranda.

Mr. Miranda was a print shop worker for the Taylor Box Company for over 43 years. He had lived in Warren for over 45 years, coming from Portugal.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Mr. Miranda enjoyed gardening, taking nature walks, watching Portuguese soccer games, listening to the Portuguese news channels and spending time with his family’s dogs.

Beside his wife he is survived by two sons, Nelson Miranda of Cranston, RI and Michael Miranda of Warren, RI; and three sisters, Rosa, Gilda and Cremilde, all in Portugal.

His funeral will be held Monday November 25, 2019 at 9 am from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren.

Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 pm.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
