Mt. Hope High School’s Eva White will be recognized as one of two recipients of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’ Student-Athlete of the Year Award, presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI.

The RI Interscholastic League will honor 20 individuals in total, including 12 student-athletes, for their exemplary achievements over the past year at its 10th annual RIIL Awards Luncheon, to be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Valley Country Club in Warwick (Registration from 10:45-11:15 a.m.).

Tickets, which cost $30 per person, may be purchased online by May 6. Should you have any questions, please contact Susana Borges via email at susana.borges@riil.org or by phone at the League Office at 401-272-9844. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Mt. Hope Athletic Director Christy Belisle added the following regarding White’s award:

“Eva is an eight Varsity Letter Award winner, participating in Varsity Tennis and Swim for four years, through the pandemic, I might add,” she said. “She is a quiet leader who was most recently named the RI Swim Coaches Association Swimmer of the Year. Eva will attend the Naval Academy next year.”

Mt. Hope Principal Deb DiBiase added:

“Eva is truly an outstanding student and athlete with a strong work ethic. She is the ultimate role model of our Core Values and Beliefs: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Integrity, Intellectual Curiosity, and Perseverance. She works tirelessly and is highly respected by all who know her. Her passion for life and learning is inspiring! Eva is extremely deserving of this amazing accomplishment and we are so very proud of her!”
