Massive fire levels Touisset Point waterfront home

Posted

A massive fire destroyed a Touisset Point home midday Monday, though the occupants made it out safely.

The 3 Circuit Drive home owned by Geoff and Dianne Berg was completely destroyed by the fire, which started just before noon and is currently of unknown origin. Flames could be seen across the water at Narrows Point in Bristol, and the smoke was visible for miles.

Fire fighters from Warren, Rehoboth, Swansea and Bristol had a difficult time containing the fire, and tanker trucks were sent back and forth from Touisset Point to fill up at a hydrant near Long Lane. Much of lower Touisset was closed to traffic as dozens of fire fighters came to the scene.

There were no reports of injuries, but the Bergs’ $700,000 waterfront home built in 1935, and several cars, were destroyed in the blaze.
More information will be updated as it becomes available.
