Mary E. (Martin) Hoague, 85, widow of James E. Hoague, of Warren, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Hope Hospice in Providence.
Mrs. Hoague was born in Highgate Springs, Vt., a daughter of the late Irving W. and Inez Irene (Sholan) Martin.
Mary moved from Virginia in 1975 to Warren, RI. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, making ceramics, playing bingo at the Warren Senior Center, painting birdhouses with her son David and was an avid pet lover. Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved spending time with her family and friends, always laughing, having a good story to tell.

Mary worked at a wide variety of jobs over the years. One of her most favorite jobs was that of a bus monitor at First Student. She loved all the children and their pets that she met at the bus stops. She officially retired from being a bus monitor at the age of 80 years old.
Surviving is a son, David Hoague and his wife Elizabeth of Warren, RI: three daughters, Diane Gilmer and her husband Roger of Lyndhurst VA., Linda Sisco of Piney Flats, TN and Shelly Gardiner and her husband Bill of Florida; two sisters, Betty Hoague of East Providence and Jean Choineau of St. Albans, VT.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren a great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday, May 15 at Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, Warren. Rev. David Masello conducted a Celebration of life.
