Castro, Maria L., 91, of Warren, RI, died Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren. She was the wife of the late Victorino O. Castro.

 

Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Farias) Camara.

 

Maria had worked in the local factories producing jewelry for many years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.  She enjoyed sewing and cooking and spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by her son, Victorino “Victor” J. Castro of Warren; and three grandchildren, Paul Castro, Melissa Castro and Michael Castro.

 

She was the sister of the late Manuel Camara, Tome Camara, Maria Conceica Benevides and Romana Farias.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 10:30AM, from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren.

 

Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning, September 5, 2020, from 8:30AM to 10:30M, at Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren.

 

Burial will take place in St. Mary of the Bay.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of RI, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI, 02906.
