Thanks to Ethan Hartley and the Warren Times-Gazette for the article about the Arbor Day celebration at Kickemuit Middle School on April 29th. The Warren High School Class of 1965 grads who attended were so happy to be included in an event that promoted ties of friendship and planting trees. Truly, the roots of lasting friendships run deep, and we are hoping that the two trees that were planted at KMS last week will take firm root and thrive for many years.
We would like to acknowledge and promote the Warren Tree Commission, who helped us select and secure our memorial tree along with trees they planted at Hugh Cole and KMS on Arbot Day. The Tree Commission works all year long to ensure that our town is enhanced and enriched with trees both for beauty and for the environmental health they bestow.
I think this year’s Arbor Day ceremony, which brought young students and silver haired grads together to celebrate the cycle of life through the planting of trees has already generated some success in ensuring more trees will be planted. I learned from a friend recently that the Colt High Class of 1965 is already looking to plant their own memorial tree in Bristol. And hopefully more classes and community groups will join in and plant more trees. Bravo, Warren Tree Commission!
