Letter: Thank you for continuing to support Arts Alive!

To the editor:

We would like to extend our gratitude to the generous individuals and businesses throughout Barrington and the entire East Bay. When Arts Alive! was established 11 years ago, we set out with the mission to provide opportunities for youth to experience high quality performing arts programs that promote positive development. We are committed to enriching the community through partnerships with schools, parent teacher organizations, families, businesses, and community organizations. And, it is through these partnerships and relationships that we have been able to keep the arts alive through this unprecedented year.

Last March when our lives were forever changed due to COVID-19, our organization like so many experienced a devastating loss. We were forced to cancel three performances and were saddened to see so many of our young actors lose the opportunity to perform and experience the joy of live theatre.

As you can imagine, the restrictions set in place concerning social distancing and group gathering size have presented many challenges for our organization, which typically involves over 100 students in each school play program throughout the district and in Warren. However, last fall when we reached out to our wonderful community, we were awed by the immense amount of support we were shown. Individuals who had children participate many years ago in our program, businesses who themselves were experiencing financial hardship, current Arts Alive! families, and many more came forward and demonstrated their gratitude and appreciation for what Arts Alive! brings to the community.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support for Arts Alive! Our community’s investment in our children is admirable to say the least. We are fortunate to have worked with the thousands of young people that have come through our program and we are grateful for Barrington’s commitment to keeping the arts alive!

Thank you,

Arts Alive! Board of Directors
