Joseph J. Sousa, 96 of Warren, died Sunday January 5, 2020 at RI Hospital.

He was the husband of Sarah S. (Palumbo) Sousa, they have been married for over 32 years.

He was the husband of the late Theresa (Amaral) Sousa.
Joseph was born in Bristol a son of the late Manuel B. and Mary (Borges) Sousa.

Mr. Sousa was a US Army veteran serving during WWII.

He was an Outside Machinist for the Blount Marine for many years. Joseph had also worked for Berkshire – Hathaway and Kleistone Rubber.

A Warren resident for most of his life, and a Bristol resident in his youth.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, where he was a member of the Holy Ghost Society, and a committee member of the Holy Ghost Feast and he was the Mordomo a few times for the feast.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. He and his wife would spend a lot of time, visiting the country in their RV.

Beside his wife he is survived by his son Joseph J. Sousa Jr. of Warren.
Joseph was the brother of Florence Rodericks of Florida.
He was the grandfather of twins Justin Sousa and Jason Sousa.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sousa was the brother of the late Manuel Sousa, David Sousa, Albert Sousa, Edawese Sousa, Tony Sousa, Joseph Sousa and Alice Calstrom.

Funeral services are private.
