Huskies beat Scituate, 3-1, gain quarterfinals

Tori Coroa scored two goals and Angela Lee scored one to boost the Huskies over Scituate, 3-1, in a preliminary playoff game at Vendituoli Field on Friday night.

The win puts Mt. Hope in the Division I quarterfinals at North Kingstown on Sunday night at 6 p.m.

Minutes into the game Coroa connected with Lee at the top of the box. Lee took a step and blasted a kick by Sentinels goalkeeper Madison Medbury to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Coroa scored both of her goals on breakaways. The first coming in fron the left side. She sped by a defender and neatly placed the ball by a charging Medbury to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.

She struck again dribbling down the middle through a couple of defenders and kicked the ball by Medbury to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Huskies goalkeeper Logan Levesque and the defense stymied the Sentinels.

Until Mia Clancy scored for Scituate in the second half.

Levesque had 9 saves for the Huskies.
